SDTC Performance Rules
The following rules must be followed when performing Shodo Taichi:
  1. Mind is focused on the Dantian (丹田) in the lower abdomen, about three finger widths below the navel.
  2. Lift the tongue up.
  3. Knees down slightly.
  4. Hands are holding a ball that symbolically represents a globe.
  5. If hands are on the right, the right hand is the upper one and its palm is down.
  6. If hands are on the left, the left hand is the upper one and its palm is down.
  7. Keep the body completely relaxed, the back straight up, and the mind free from all thoughts.
  8. Move the hands without tensing the muscles.
  9. Eyes are to follow the hands to unite mind and body.
  10. When the hands are moving forward or upward: inhale. Exhale otherwise.
