I have developed Shodo Taichi and its principles from my life-long study of acupuncture, fasting, Aikido, and Tai Chi. My study is based on the teachings of the following masters and their respective disciplines, without which Shodo Taichi would not exist today:
  1. O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido.
It was Aikido that changed my life from mental weakness and physical illness to optimal health.
  2. Grand Master Wang Zong Yue (王宗岳) through his most well-known book "T'ai Chi Ch'uan Treatise" (太極拳論).
  3. Sensei George Oshawa, who taught me the principles of Macrobiotics through his many books.
  4. Professor Paul Bragg, who taught me the principles of fasting through his book "The Miracle of Fasting".
I have been practicing fasting on a regular basis since 2003.
  5. Thượng Tọa Thích Tâm Ấn who taught me the fundamentals of acupuncture.
  6. Thầy Lý Diệu Phương who taught me advanced techniques of acupuncture.
  7. Sensei Koichi Tohei, former Chief Instructor at Aikikai, founder of Ki Society.
It was the Sensei Koichi Tohei's book "Aikido in Daily Life" that brought me to Aikido in 1969.
This book was later re-titled as "Ki in Daily Life".
I have not lived a day without Aikido since then.
  8. Sensei Đặng Thông Phong of Tenshinkai Aikido Federation, Westminster, California, USA.
Sensei Đặng has been my sensei since 1969 in Saigon, Vietnam and later in Westminster, California, USA.
  9. Sensei Trương Văn Lương of Thiên Tâm Hội, whom I studied under from 1969 to 1975 in Saigon, Vietnam.
  10. Sensei Ngô Quyền of Thiên Tâm Hội, whom I studied under from 1969 to 1975 in Saigon, Vietnam.
  11. Sensei Bùi Duy Cảnh of Thiên Tâm Hội, whom I studied under from 1969 to 1975 in Saigon, Vietnam.
  12. Sensei Trần Kỉnh, whom I studied under in 1973 and again from 1980 to 1981 in Dalat and at Đạo đường Quận nhất in Saigon, Vietnam, respectively.
  13. Sensei Bruce Stiles, whom I studied under in 1982 at Toronto Aikikai dojo in Toronto, Canada.
  14. Sensei Robert Zimmermann, whom I studied under in 1982 at Toronto Aikikai dojo in Toronto, Canada.
I am sincerely and profoundly thankful for the teachings of these masters.
